The MirandaNet community expects that innovative ways of learning will emerge as digital technologies become increasingly pervasive. What we are investigating at the moment is the value of Open Educational Resources (OER): digital materials that can be re-used for teaching, learning, research and more, made available free through open licenses, which allow uses of the materials that would not be easily permitted under copyright.
During September MirandaNet members are invited to join us in the development of four Open Educational Resource (OERs) units in teaching and learning for Higher Education. The principal outcome from the nine-unit project will be a 30-credit point postgraduate module: the use of OERs in HE with particular focus on creativity and digital literacy. Our units are Online Community Working. Once these are developed they will be available to any educator who wants to teach this subject and any professional learner who wants to engage with the expert knowledge and the issues.
This ITTE/JISC/HEA project on the use of OERs is led by The University of Bedfordshire and Core-Ed UK. Over August, Leon Cych, Theo Keuchel, John Cuthell and Christina Preston have engaged in the initial development, using four digital concept maps in order to compare this visual approach with the usual linear approach to storing resources.
Please feel free to explore these resources and contribute to each of the wikimaps. If you think that any of the ideas or resources in the maps need further exploration then post a message to MirandaLink to open up a debate.
