Personal Statement
I was the creator and Director of the Centre for Information Technology in Education at The College of St. Mark and St. John, Plymouth. I have been involved in IT in learning for well over 30 years and the only sure thing I have discovered is that the more I find out about ICT and learning the more questions I have.
I struggle between being entranced with the always emerging technologies and a primeval feeling that all this change is sheer gloss and that the important things in life continue as ever.
I moved into teaching as a career because I felt it could be a far more pleasant experience for teachers and pupils than my experiences as a schoolchild. My interest in ICT still stems from this. Yes, I can be convinced that ICT will improve standards and more importantly access to educational experiences. BUT, mainly I still feel deep inside that ICT can be one factor in making education a more enjoyable experience for teachers and kids.
