Online Learning in Teacher Training Courses at the Charles University
The information and communications technologies (ICT) have been applied in education in the Czech Republic for a long time without any special governmental support or attention thanks mainly an enthusiasm of teachers in schools and some educational institutions. There are some activities (RUFIS, international conference TET-Telecommunications for Education and Training etc.) which effort not only to change rapidly a situation with implementation of ICT in education at all levels cross curriculum but also to apply ICT as a natural environment for learning. This paper describes a situation in the Czech Republic, especially experiences with on-line learning at the Charles University in Prague. We try to identify how tele-learning is accepted by a teacher community and what brings to learners and teachers.
The paper is accompanied with a demonstration of on-line courses developed in LearningSpace and with a summary of experiences with on-line courses at the Faculty of Education in Prague.
