Personal Statement

Formerly ICT adviser and NGFL manager for Cumbria - a large rural LEA with 350 schools. Previously primary teacher, headteacher and Senior Lecturer in ITT. Ex Chair of NAACE Board of Management. Currently working with government projects in Jordan and Sweden.

ICT Interests

I was an early adopter of ICT in schools. I had my first computer in a class of 8/9 year olds in 1980 and wrote an article for the very first edition of the MAPE journal Microscope in 1981. I am fascinated by the pedagogic implications of ICT especially in relation to maths and Literacy. At present I am leading a group of 13 teacher-researchers on a DfEE funded project to look at the use of media-rich online resources for numeracy in Year 1 and Literacy in Year 5 classes. I am also active in developing a regional broadband network and the regional virtual resource centre (CLEO).
