Personal Statement
For most of my working life I was a croupier, working in various London casinos. I liked my job but felt I had missed out by not taking A levels and going to university. I didn't enjoy studying until I left school and always felt that I went to school at the wrong time in my life. I embarked on various courses of study whilst working but when the opportunity presented itself for me to go to college and then university I seized it, and it has changed everything.
ICT Interests
I am an NQT at Gaynes Secondary School in Upminster teaching ICT. I am particularly interested in the way ICT is or could be used in education, particularly in a cross curricular way. Given the appropriate resources I believe ICT is the key to changing the nature in which we teach and learn.
Recent Projects
I have introduced Think.com to all key stage 3 pupils at Gaynes and will shortly extend it to some students in key stage 4. I am about to launch a school newspaper on Think.com which a group of students will take ownership of. I also run a Think.com club after school which is proving to be very popular. I have found that Think.com has been embraced by some of the most unlikely pupils and that it has given them a new dimension to express themselves and communicate with others in an exciting environment.
