The aim of the Learning-Together project is to develop meaningful links between teachers and students in London and Beijing, and to develop a new international on-line learning community. There are several strands to this:
• Visual learning
• Student to student links
• Teacher training
• On-line resource development
• World peace (My MirandaNet colleagues will already know of this obsession …)
The first objective is to develop a bi-lingual, audio-visual library of resources that will support teachers and learners of English in both countries.
John has kindly posted an example file at the beginning of this Forum. It is called "The Blackcurrant's Journey", and is a collaboration between three UK students and a student in Beijing, who translated it for us as part of the project.
The Academy of Educational Sciences has built a beautiful web site on which some of the learning outcomes of the project are being posted, and the lovely “lions logo” (two lions facing each other) has become the symbol of the project, now posted on a range of web sites. One reason for developing this current on-line Visual Learning forum is to share some of this information with colleagues within MirandaNet, and beyond.
For the Beijing web site, see: [www.learning-together.net]
If you scroll down, on the left you will also see hyperlinks back to various web sites in the UK, including MirandaNet, and one which takes you out to Taiwan and my “Science Through Arts” (STAR) project, now running in Taichung.
