Lawrence Williams is Director of Creative Development at the Holy Cross School, New Malden, Surrey, where he teaches English, music, drama, and ICT. Like all MirandaNet Fellows, Lawrence has a passion for the development of education through the creative use of ICT tools for learning, coupled with the belief that on-line learning crosses political boundaries, allowing the children of the world to work together for peace.
He says, “I believe that ICT provides teachers with an incredibly powerful set of tools for linking students together across the world. If children grow up sharing ideas about their cultures, and exploring new friendships by using ICT in innovative ways, they will not wish, when they are older, to wage war on those who were once their childhood friends.”
Currently, he is also working as a Lead Practitioner with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, iNet, MirandaNet, Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences, and schools in Taiwan to create a new on-line learning community. Curriculum areas under development are innovative on-line methods of science education (through cross-curricular models, and with a recent project winning a Rolls- Royce science prize) and audio-visual learning projects.
This thread aims to start a conversation with Lawrence about his projects and also allows you to take part so feel free to drop in and do more than just Lurk!
Lawrence refers to a PowerPoint story that was made as part of the project.

Warning: this delightful file is 4.3MB. And a few pages have Chinese Characters which may not display correctly when viewed on a Mac.
