Personal Statement

I was a secondary teacher for 14 years before becoming a teacher educator. I started using ICT in my classroom in 1976. Prior to joining Cisco I was the director of a research centre for new technology in education at the University of Warwick. In 2000 I was seconded for 8 months to Imfundo based at DFID by Cisco to look at ways of using ICT to improve the quality of teaching in Africa. I am now the Education Strategist for Corporate Affairs as well as an adviser for ICT in education across the company. My real fascination is around cultural and pedagogical differences in teaching and learning and the impact of ICT.

ICT Interests

I work with a number of governments through Cisco’s social investment programmes in education and leads visioning workshops on the future of technology-enabled education with senior officials. I am interested in how ICT can be used most effectively to help developing countries to improve the quality of and access to education as well as how more advanced technologies can make a difference in the developed world.

Recent Projects

I've been working mainly on the Global Education Initiative -see http://www.weforum.org/en/initiatives/gei/index.htm and a project on teacher training and capacity building in Kenya.
