Review:
As Fabiola Araiza discovered, the ActivBoard is a great tool. But that's all that it is and we must not forget. The real change is how teaching and learning was transformed. When you put learning in the hands of students and ask them to work together collaboratively on projects that interest them, they will excel. Building passion, creativity, and a sense to want to understand is job one in education. The old school is sitting in a classroom and being taught by a teacher. New school is students take an active role in learning those things that interest them along with guidance of a mentor.
As Fabiola pointed out in her conclusion, "it does not satisfy them that I do the bridge that builds between the groups".
This was a great example of transformation and using a tool successfully. I see these tools sitting in my school district mostly collecting dust. What a waste for those students!
The bottom line is Fabiola had a plan and worked it well.
