Organising a school event is a time intensive activity that really cries out for the intelligent use of ICT to ensure that it is effective, efficient and as painless as possible.
EventElephant (www.eventelephant.com/education) is a self service online product that makes it very simple for schools to:
- Set Up a great looking event web site for each of your events
- Send Out email invitations and details to parents or the wider community
- Sign Up event registrations and payments – online
EventElephant is now working in partnership with MirandaNet to help busy schools organize their events. And for school events that are free –so is the service!
Event Elephant is seeking a pilot group of MirandaNet members to test the effectiveness of the EventElephant service to reduce administration time and / or to increase parental engagement. Projects can be focused on the activity of either school administrators, teachers or through children’s cross curriculum project activity to create a fully branded school events website. Ideas for suitable events include after school clubs, school trips, inter-school CPD activities, school productions and / or fund raising activities – but any ideas you have will be considered. The aim is to produce working examples of practice for promotion on the EventElephant website by July 2009.
We believe that MirandaNet members will undoubtedly be interested in participating in this pilot. The pilot description is as follows:
- Members will keep access to the product after the pilot
- It will always be free to those who use it within schools for free events
- Commitment of participating members by 18th May 2009
- Pilots to be carried out and completed by the mid July 2009
- Initial training to be given by EventElephant w/c 18th May
- Assistance in setting up event pages; with complete on-line support to schools by EventElephant to be arranged as required
- Case studies completed and submitted to EventElephant by mid July 2009
